Galatians 5:22-23 

GOD THE FATHER WANTS TO TRANSFER AND DEVELOP THE FRUIT OF THE HOLY SPIRIT IN YOU. (Why?)

Nais ng Diyos Ama na ilipat at hubugin ang bunga ng Banal na Espiritu sa inyo. (Baket?)

1. THE FRUIT OF THE SPIRIT COMES DIRECTLY FROM THE HOLY SPIRIT.

Not from a regenerated human spirit. 

… of the Spirit. (v.22a)

The fruit of the Spirit is not produced by a believer, but by the Holy Spirit working through a believer who is in vital union with Christ. 

The Fruit of the Spirit is the spontaneous work of the Holy Spirit in us. The spirit produces these character traits, which are found in the nature of Christ. They are the by-products of Christ’s control, and we can’t obtain them by trying to get them without his help. 

2. THE FRUIT OF THE SPIRIT IS ATTRACTIVE TO GOD.

Not just to others.

Live in the Spirit… walk in the Spirit. (v. 25)

All of the fruits are relational attractions with others and with God.  

Consistent with other believers and with God.

 

All of the fruits are others centered.

• Centered on God
• Centered on others – believers and unbelievers 

 

How can we know if we truly have them?

Even unbelievers can display these qualities when conditions are positive.

Not what we do. But who we are. It is primarily displayed when circumstances are unfavorable.

 

3. THE FRUIT OF THE SPIRIT SHOULD BE TAKEN AS ONE.

Not just as nine different fruits.

But the fruit… love, joy, peace… self-control. (v.22-23) 

All of the fruits begin the moment when you become a Christian. How quickly it grows depends upon how completely

you yield yourself to the Holy Spirit’s activity.  -Henry Blackaby

APPLICATION:

We must know him, love him, remember him, and imitate him. The result will be that we will fulfill the

intended purpose of the law – loving God and loving man.
