Galatians 5:22-26

  • Emphasis: The fruit that the holy spirit produces in us will lead us to a lasting relationships.
    • FAITHFULNESS
      • Greek – “pistis”
        • Often used in the NT of a conviction or belief in respect to God and Christ.
        • But it also is used to describe the quality of "fidelity & faithfulness"
    • GENTLENESS
      • Greek “prautes”  
        • "the ability to bear reproaches and slights with moderation, and not to embark on revenge quickly, and not to be easily provoked to anger, but to be free from bitterness and contentiousness, having tranquility and stability in the spirit."
    • SELF-CONTROL
      • Greek - “egkrateia” - it comes from the word "kratos" (strength), and means "one holding himself in“
        • "the virtue of one who masters his desires and passions, especially his sensual appetites"
  • Application:
    • To trust Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior
    • To deal every sin in our lives
    • To walk in the Spirit

“Walking by the Spirit is what we do when the desires of the Spirit are stronger than the desires of the flesh.”
