Matthew 25:14-30

Central emphasis:

Anything that Christians have in this life is not of their own but His. Therefore we are responsible to Him alone and will face an account of it someday on how faithful we are in the use of the gift and resources He granted us in this life.

What is a parable?

  • It means “cast alongside”
  • An earthly story with heavenly meaning.

Lessons to learn:

  • It denotes the necessity of habitual preparation- of actual diligence in our present work and service. 14-18
  • It denotes that we are involve in labor and business and must remain in a state of expectancy (of His return)- 19-25
  • It denotes an instruction to do well for our soul, to be wise in our dealings otherwise with spiritual consequence in return. 26-30

An instruction:

I Peter 4:10-11

as each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God's varied grace: whoever speaks, as one who speaks oracles of God; whoever serves, as one who serves by the strength that God supplies—in order that in everything God may be glorified through Jesus Christ. To him belong glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.
