HAGGAI 1:12-15

EMPHASIS: “Sometimes God’s ownership of a project is only recognized after our best efforts have failed.”

  • I. THE PEOPLE REACTED
    • Then Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, and Joshua the son of Jehozadak, the high priest, with all the remnant of the people, obeyed the voice of the Lord their God, and the words of Haggai the prophet, as the Lord  their God had sent him; (Haggai 1:12a)
    • … and the people feared the presence of the Lord. (Haggai 1:12b)
  • II. THE PEOPLE REASSURED
    •  Then Haggai, the Lord’s messenger, spoke the Lord’s message to the people, saying, “I am with you, says the Lord.” (Haggai 1:13)
  • III. THE PEOPLE ROUSED
    •  So the Lord stirred up the spirit of Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and the spirit of Joshua the son of Jehozadak, the high priest, and the spirit of all the remnant of the people; (Haggai 1:14a)
  • IV. THE PEOPLE RESPONDED
    • …and they came and worked on the house of the Lord of hosts, their God, 15 on the twenty-fourth day of the sixth month, in the second year of King Darius. (Haggai 1:14b-15)
  • THE PRECISE RESULT
    • Obeyed
    • Feared
    • Work
