TRUST & OBEY

(FOR THERE’S NO OTHER WAY)

1 KINGS 17:1-24

I – Like Elijah - Trust God’s Provision (vv.2-7)

Elijah was obedient. He trusted God's Word.

He believed that God would take care of his needs.

Each day he had to trust God for his daily bread.

“It was a reminder for Elijah to trust the Lord and not the brook.” -Warren Weirsbe

I - Like Elijah - Trust God’s Provision.

     To test his Faith.
We have to wait upon the Lord.

     To firmly fix his Focus.
We need to get our focus back on God.

“God’s servants, God’s people are often called so sit by dying brooks.”  F.B. Meyers

Like Elijah, one important thing we have to do is to trust God's provision and that provision

is sometimes not what we think it would be.

II - Like Elijah and The Widow - Obey God’s Word (vv.8-16)
    ELIJAH’S OBEDIENCE.
    To Elijah Obedience is IMPERATIVE.
    To Elijah Obedience is IMMEDIATE.

    The POOR WIDOW’S OBEDIENCE.
“She went and did as Elijah said.”

III- Like the Widow - Put God First (vv.13-16)

This woman had tremendous need in her own life…

BUT she gave up something vital to her.

    She Put God First!

“Those that can venture upon the promise of God will make no difficulty of exposing and emptying themselves in his service, by giving him his dues out of a little and giving him his part first.” Matthew Henry

Vision: To see equipped members fulfilling the Great Commission.
